Sponsored cycle ride to the Birks
Earlier this month 10 intrepid cyclists set out on a sponsored cycle ride to raise much needed funds for our field centre The Birks. The cyclists set out on the gruelling 160 mile journey from the Grove School and were waved off by year 8 students who are set to travel to the Birks next term. Amongst the team was the Grove's own Mr Sterling, Head of Music Department and long standing supporter of the Birks. He commented he had "a leisurely meander from coffee house to coffee house on the way!"
All of the team completed the challenge with only 1 puncture being reported The amount raised has not been finalised as yet, but it stands to be high with £770 already being raised with a non uniform day held at school in support of the cause.

Some of the team leaving from the Grove site are waved off by Mr Geoff Dickinson, ex-headteacher from the Grove, who was in post when The Birks first came into use by the school Mrs Jane Radbourne, present headteacher of The Grove and some of the present Year 8 pupils who are due to visit The Birks over the next few weeks.
The next Birks event will be a Strawberry and Fizz afternoon details here.
