Information
AS / A2 Courses
Subject to discussion and guidance, you can choose between
3 and 5 of these courses and it will be possible to gain
an AS qualification at the end of Year 12 in those subjects
that you do not take through to Year 13. Advanced
Vocational Courses have the same status and time allowance
as AS/A2 subjects.
5 hours per subject per week includes 4 hours of taught
time and one hour of directed study known as The Fifth
Hour.
Usual entry level: 5+ grades A-C at GCSE
Where numbers
are small:
- it may not be possible to run the course at all;
- the group may run on reduced time;
- the group may run partly in the Third Session
Some subjects (marked with an asterisk) are offered by
New College and only run in the Third Session (3.15-5.15
twice weekly). College Curriculum

For Advanced Students:

- a choice of up to 5 courses initially
- progression from GNVQ intermediate to an advanced vocational
course
- the chance for able French students to participate
in the Dialogue 2000 project
- the opportunity to take one of your courses with New
College (Third Session)
For Intermediate Students:
- the chance to complete your intermediate course in
Year 12 or start a new one
For Foundation Students:
- the chance to join New College at Grove School for
the Advantage Course
For all through choice and negotiation:
- progression with Asdan, Key Skills, DOE, CSLA, and
extra GCSE, Computer courses
