Y7 International day
Eastern European Month
February 2011 was once again International Focus Month at Grove and this year the focus was on Eastern Europe. Mrs Bedford launched the month with assemblies to all Houses and Grove College. The assembly covered a brief history of Eastern Europe in recent times, interesting facts about some countries, problems affecting people in these countries and a brief overview of what was happening in school over the month. As we have now completed the cycle of 5 international months over the last 5 years and covered 5 continents, the assembly concluded with a look at what the World looks like today and a thought-provoking video produced by Miniature Earth, which portrays what the world would look like if it were a village of 100 people. Departments were all asked to contribute to the month by including some reference to Eastern Europe in some lessons. Some of these are listed below
A Russian language taster session was delivered to Year 7s and to Primary school pupils by the MFL department.
