At a Glance - The Key Features of Grove

Curriculum

We provide a curriculum that is genuinely comprehensive, offering wide choice and a range of experiences for students of all abilities. Our curriculum has been singled out for praise in official reports and in the national press. The aim is to provide opportunities that will enable all studnets to reach their full potential.  Recent developments have including the introduction of Diploma courses for 14-16 year olds.  our vocational options, including NVQ, continue to be very strong.

Pastoral care

We provide an exceptionally good level of care through our house system and mentoring scheme which inspires confidence in families. Our tutorial system is mixed age within a house system. This has increased children’s confidence and added to the strong sense of community.  Our Individual Learning Centre is a resource that provides individual support for students who are not attending normal lessons for any reason.

Grove College

As an 11-18 school we offer students joining Grove College - the school's Sixth Form Centre - the benefits of continuing in education post-16 without the need to travel or settle in a new educational establishment. In Grove House students have their own social base with an adult "feel" whilst having the use of all the facilities of Grove Campus.  A Level results are very good.

Facilities

Our facilities are of a high standard. Languages, science, technology, learning support and ICT have all enjoyed significant upgrades in recent years.

Birks

We own a former Forestry Commission property in the Lake District which offers our students a unique residential base for concentrated activities such as writing, art, music and team building.

Language College

We are a specialist language college where all students take at least one language in the belief that well-educated people of the future will travel, live and work abroad routinely, be at ease with other languages and be comfortable in the use of ICT. Being a language college means there are often individuals or groups from abroad in the school and a number of visits abroad of our own.

Extra curricular activities

We maintain traditions like Sports Day, Charity Day, Activities Week, and the International Arts Festival.
