On 22nd March 2007, as part of BBC School News Report Day, our students are reporting the news for real, along with the BBC.
Over the past few weeks some of our Year 8 students have turned into broadcast journalists, scriptwriters, editors, presenters and camera operators. They have produced a number of TV news feature items in their lunch time and after school.
On the March 22nd, Schools News Report Day, the pupils will act as a live news room, gathering information, verifying stories along with presenting, filming and editing, using all the skills that they have learnt.
And now, here is the News from Grove and the BBC
The day has proved a huge success!
Lucy Green, lead teacher for the project:
"This has been a fantastic opportunity for all the students who have taken part. They have learned many skills not normally developed in the curriculum such as using professional cameras and editing equipment. Working with the BBC has also been a great experience for them all."
One of the students:
"The experience has taught me that that things have to be done on time and you must stick to the time schedule. Working under that kind of pressure is difficult and challenging, but we’re all very pleased that we got everything done in the end!"
