Narrative Writing Competition

The English department organised its very own Carnegie Awards competition. Year 7 students had to write a novel/short story which had to be presented as if being published. Students have been working on these stories from half term up to Christmas both at home and in lessons. The winners of each teaching group were then put forward and these were judged by Ms Radbourne and Mrs Campbell. The two winners were Joe Lloyd and Robert Humphris who received W H Smith gift vouchers with the runners up receiving 20 housepoints.

Ms Radbourne was very impressed with the very high standard and quality of work that was produced.
Our congratulations to the winners and runners-up pictured here.

The Winners
Murder of the Red Devil by Joe Lloyd
"A detective thriller in true style. It had me gripped from the start and I particularly liked the way the author set very peaceful and relaxing scenes which were shattered as the narrative moved on. Terrific contrast."
Home of the Dragons by Robert Humphris
"Full of atmosphere. A combination of myth and fantasy. A story of dragons and the need to make them friends of humans. "
