Presentation Evening

On Wednesday Sepember 27th we were delighted to welcome students and their parents to the Presentation Evening for the current Years 8, 9, 10 and 11. The students received awards for achievement, both academic and in the fields of sport and music.

During House assemblies in school all those students nominated by teachers as having shown excellence, improvement or consistent commitment in any subject have already received certificates. The Presentation Evening was to recognise those students in each House who had received the highest number of nominations for achievement awards over the whole year and in all subjects.

Special recognition was given to the young people who have represented Shropshire in a range od sports and played in the various County School of Music emsembles.

Finally, five students in each House were selected to receive the highest accolade of all - the Headteacher's Certficate of Excellence - representing outstanding effort, commitment and achievement over the past year.

All the awards and certificates were presented by new Headteacher, Jane Radbourne, who congratulated all the students and expressed her delight with their success.  Addressing parents and students after the presentation, she spoke of the great feeling of optimism she has found in her first weeks at Grove;

"I have arrived at a time when the school has had its best ever results at both GCSE and A level.  The commitment and excellence of the students here tonight show that we can look forward to the future with great confidence."
