A Level Joy for Grove College Students
Grove College students are celebrating success in their A level exams.
The results showed continued improvement in all areas, confirming the findings of this year's OFSTED report which judged the College to be good in all categories. The overall passrate was 96.3% - a small increase on 2008 - whilst the percentage of passes at Grades A, B and C rose by 5% to 71% with a similar improvement in Grade A and B passes.
Headteacher Jane Radbourne was delighted for the students:
"This is the best set of results the school has had in a long time. I am particularly pleased with our fourth consecutive year of increase in higher grade passes: this is something we have been working really hard on. The staedy improvement in A level results is just reward for the hard work of students and staff and the support of parents."
Four students achieved three As: Harriet Johns who will study Drama at Manchester University, Lydia Beresford who will be taking Physics, also at Manchester, Isoble Barlow who will be going to Lancaster to study Psychology and Becky Fletcher who will read English Literature at East Anglia.
Under the leadership of College Co-ordinator Mary Elkin, Grove has shown itself to be continuing to build on its reputation for exam success coupled with high quality student support. Places in courses starting this September are still available: for information please contact Mary Elkin at the school.
