For one week in January all students in school have been learning about the voting system, democracy and elections during their PSHEE/Citizenship lessons and have had the opportunity to vote for new members of the Youth Parliament from candidates in the Shropshire area. Students also voted for the top two issues they felt should be included in their manifesto. Students voted for the issues they felt strongly about and they were Smoking, Alcohol & Drugs & Sports/Leisure activities for young people.
What is Youth Parliament?
The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. Run by young people for young people, UKYP provides opportunities for 11-18 year-olds to use their voice in creative ways to bring about social change.
