Barry Pitt
It was with great sadness that we heard at the start of term of the sudden death of Barry Pitt, one of Grove's longest-serving Governors.
During his many years of service, Barry worked with three Headteachers, always bringing vision and guidance in the role of "critical friend", which he recognised as being a vital function of an effective school governor.
As Chair of both the Personnel and Marketing Committees, Barry was unstinting in the time he gave to the school, also being regularly involved in interviewing panels and performing a linking role between many subject areas and the governing body. In the wider educational field, he was an active member of Local Authority groups and provided a valuable line of communication between Grove Governors and Shropshire Local Authority.
Grove owes a deep debt of gratitude to Barry for the time and commitment that he brought to his position of Governor and the thoroughness with which he undertook the work - something that characterised all his public service.
He will be sadly missed.
