Macarena Madness

Grove has a long tradition of supporting charitable causes. For Charity Day this year the whole school danced the Macarena for Children in Need!

For many years Grove has held an annual Charity Day to raise money for a good cause, with a huge range of charities having benefited over the years. Since Charity Days first began well over £60000 has been raised by students and staff doing weird and wonderful things. In the past, teachers have been kidnapped and endured the stocks whilst students have walked endless laps of the school field, sat in paddling pools full of custard, formed a giant picture of the Air Ambulance, played mass musical chairs and famously line-danced in torrential rain.

This year our Charity Day coincided with the BBC's Children in Need Appeal and all the money raised will go to that cause. We are raising money in two ways:

All students (and staff!) were allowed to come to school in their own choice of clothes rather than school uniform for a voluntary contribution of £1 each. In the past many have chosen to wear fancy dress.
During the afternoon everyone once again put on their dancing shoes, this time for a mass Macarena, followed by dancing back into school to the joyous strains of "Show me the way to Amarillo"
The Way to Amarillo!
