Future Chefs!

Grove students have been taking part in the Future Chef competition.
Future Chef forms part of Springboard’s high profile national school programme. Based on a four staged, nationwide competition, FutureChef is designed to help young people learn about food and how to cook. It provides a unique insight into the world of professional cookery capturing imagination, recognising talent and providing a potential platform to launch a fabulous career in the industry. Supported by key industry partners and judged by some of the country’s top chefs, last year’s competition attracted a record 7,087 entrants from 583 schools throughout the UK.
The competition is open to students in Year 10 and their task is to prepare and cook a hot main course for two people within 1 hour's cooking time with a budget of £4. Entrants were judged by senior members of staff together with two governors at the final on Tuesday 4 November at Grove School. The winner and two runners up will represent the school together with other schools in Shropshire in the Local Finals in December.
A Mentor Chef is assigned to the Local Final winner to assist and guide them for the competition in the Regional final. Hopefully, we will be successful and go on to compete in the National Final of FutureChef which will be held in March in London.

Congratulations to Stacey Bullough who won the Grove Future Chef final, to Rebecca Wylie who came second and to all other contestants for the amazingly high standard they set!!
