Giving Nation
Grove School is delighted to have won the Giving Nation
Regional Award for the West Midlands and South West for
the second consecutive year.
The award recognises the support given to a South African
school through fundraising activities organised by Mrs
P Jackson and a group of students.
Links with South African schools began five years ago
when four teachers from Grove spent a week in South Africa
experiencing the country's educational system and the life
of students there. Resources in many schools are very limited
and a dedicated group at Grove have worked tremendously
hard to raise money to provide the help that is needed.
Since the original visit both students and teachers have
made further visits to South Africa to see the progress
being made. We have also been pleased to welcome
visitors from South African schools on a return visit.
The award - a certificate and £1000 for the charitable
cause - was presented to on Tuesday 11th October to Mrs
Jackson and five students who have been involved in the
fundraising.
