Third Giving Nation Award for Grove

Grove students have won the Giving Nation South West and West Midlands Regional Award for the third year in succession. Through the guidance, support and enthusiasm of Mrs Pat Jackson, who teaches maths, a group of dedicated students have worked to raise funds for Vukani School in South Africa.
This year £6000 has been raised and in total over £13000 has been donated to support education in a deprived township near Capetown.

The Giving Nation award recognises all the charitable fundraising at Grove, and in addition to the support for Vukani School money has also been raised for Children in Need and Lepra.
Charity Day is an annual event with students traditionally undertaking a sponsored activity such as line dancing and musical chairs. Since its inception over 10 years ago a wide range of local, national and international charities including Guide Dogs for the Blind, Hope House Hospice, the Shropshire Air Ambulance and the Roy castle Appeal, have benefitted by tens of thousands of pounds.

The award was presented to students Matthew Baker, Stephanie Butter, Rebecca Fletcher, Jessica Morris and Oliver Sterling by Richard Harries at HM Treasury in Whitehall.

After the ceremony, the group were treated to a buffet lunch on board a Thames cruiser - with entertainment provided by none other than Grove's own highly successful band The Froliks!
