Optimistic Start to new School Year
Grove students and staff return this week from their summer break on a wave of optimism.
A few weeks ago, students collected record GCSE, AS and A level results, giving further evidence of the strides the school is making in raising standards.
!80 new Year 7 students are taking their first steps in Secondary education having made the transition from Primary schools in North Shropshire snd Staffordshire. Recruitment to Grove College has also been strong, following the excellent GCSE results.
There are significant changes for the new school year. A new student support system is now in place with the emphasis on supporting and monitoring progress. There are also no fewer than 14 new teachers! Unusually, there are currently six teachers on maternity leave, and our congratulations go to Mrs Barber, Mrs Harrison-Blount and Mrs Knight who all had babies during the summer.
The site staff have been busy during the break and the Dickinson (Languages) block has been completely repainted. Major improvements to the ICT network infrastructure have also been undertaken to ensure the efficient running of Grove's 600 networked computers, Moodle and admin systems.
