Choosing a School
Do you currently have a child in Year 5 or 6? Are you considering the options for Secondary education?
Our Open Evening is mainly for parents with children in Years 5 and 6 and was on 1st October. We were delighted with the large numbers who came to Grove with their children this year to view the facilities, talk with staff and see students at work.
At Grove it is a fundamental principle that every child is important and a central aim is for all our students to develop academically and socially to fulfil their potential. For this to happen, quality teaching to support learning is essential and each child needs to feel safe, secure and supported.
As a school we aim to deliver an outstanding service to our local community and actively seek the opinions of our students and their parents. A survey of Year 7 parents at the end of last year indicated 98% were happy with the way their child had settled into Grove.
Our care, guidance and support systems work well for all students encouraging them to value themselves and others. We expect all members of the school community to develop as good citizens and act with courtesy, honesty, responsibility and appropriate behaviour.
At Grove we encourage students to have high aspirations and have worked on the principle of inclusion for a number of years to develop a curriculum described as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted. Alongside GCSEs there is an extensive range of vocational courses. This has enabled us to personalise the curriculum to accommodate the interests and aptitudes of students. There is a wide range of enrichment activities offered that give all students the opportunity to broaden their experience and achieve success.
The recent Ofsted report recognised that Grove has many strengths and that consistent progress is being made. Exam results have shown consistent improvement in recent years: in 2009 a record 60% of Year 11 students achieved 5 or more Grades A*-C at GCSE and no student failed to achieve at least one qualification.
If you need more information, or would like to make an appointment to visit the school during the working day, please contact the school either by phone - 01630 652121, e-mail - admin@grove.biblio.net or use our CONTACT FORM
We also welcome enquiries and applications to join Grove College, both from students currently at Grove and those elsewhere.
Grove College offers a wide range of courses both at AS/A2 level and OCR/BTEC and this evening will be the ideal opportunity to look round the college base, Grove House, meet staff and find out about the courses on offer.
