Safety at the Grove School
Tuesday, 11th July 2006
The recent knife amnesty and stories of violence have highlighted the problems of safety in schools.
Over the last couple of weeks two boys have been arrested for attacking a boy outside a school in the Midlands and a 13 year old girl has been given a two-year supervision order after being found guilty of attacking another girl in school.
But how safe do pupils at the Grove School feel in the classroom?
The Deputy Headteacher, Mrs Campbell, is sure that pupils do feel safe. According to the Health of Young People survey which was produced earlier this year as a joint project between Shropshire County Primary Care Trust, Shropshire County Council and the Safer Shropshire Partnership, she said:
“I was very pleased when the students answered their survey very truthful about the Grove being a safe place.”

Mr. Arrowsmith, Headteacher, said in the nine years he’s been at the school there haven’t been any actual knife attacks. He is sure that if people were feeling unhappy about anything they would let him know.
