School Improvements
During the Summer holiday a number of building projects
have been completed, making some welcome improvements to
the school environment and facilities.
New signs, including Braille signs, have been put up to
help visitors to the school and to improve security.
Disabled access to the school has been improved with the
construction of a ramp to the back door.
Further work has been done on the main student entrance
near the staff room. In addition to new signs, the foyer
area has been extended and improvements made to the rooms
used by Grove Connex - our mentoring scheme - and Connexions.
The outside area between the Technology and C Blocks has
been landscaped and generally tidied up. A potentially
dangerous high step has been replaced by a ramp and a delapidated
raised flower bed removed.
When "Le Bistro" was opened two years ago as
a new eating area it immediately become very popular and
it was necessary to use the adjacent old lecture theatre
as an overflow area. This was not ideal as the floor was
sloping and the seating was designed for rows of students
in a lecture rather than for sitting down for a snack or
a meal! We have now taken out all the old lecture theatre
fittings, built a new level, platform floor and put in
dining tables and chairs. This has doubled the size of "Le
Bistro" and the improvements seem very popular with
students.
