Scrutiny Panel visit Grove
We were pleased to welcome the Education Scrutiny Panel
of Shropshire County Council to Grove on Wednesday 12th
October. This committee of County Councillors, Officers
and other representatives is responsible for oversight
of education in Shropshire.
They particulary wished to hold their meeting at Grove
in view of the outstanding work being done here in the
field of vocational and work-related learing. The
members heard from Simon Stoneley, Vocational Director,
about the opportunities open to students and watched a
recent television programme, completely focussing on Grove,
that was shown on Teachers' TV recently.
Work-related learning is considered important for all
Grove students. During Year 10 all students have
a 2 week period of work experience and many in Key Stage
4 are following programmes of study that include an NVQ
option. Links with local businesses and colleges
allow us to offer an additional element in a whole range
