What's New?
The new school year has brought a number of new faces to Grove.
In the English department, Angela Kelsall has left us on her promotion to Head of Department and Mrs K Jones has joined the team, also teaching some Geography. Mrs Bridges and Mrs Baker have now become full-time permanent members of the department too. Mrs Barlow is the final addition to the team, joining us on the Graduate Training programme. Students remember her well as our Librarian from last year ,
In Food/Textiles Technology Mrs Grainger has moved on to be replaced by Miss Daragheh.
Mrs Nilski and Mrs Banks have retired and we welcome Mrs Adlam who is teaching RS and PSHE. A newcomer to the Science department, teaching mainly Chemistry is Dr Gould.
The PE department has gained a new member, Mr Granger, allowing us to offer a new one-year OCR couse in Sport in Grove College.
Finally in the teaching changes, the popularity and success of Business Studies and ICT have led us to appoint Mr Kinnersley, who will be tecahing both subjects.
Our new Librarian is Mrs Perry and we welcome Miss Baxter to the School Office team.
During the Summer holiday the builders have been busy!
The English block has undergone a major refurbishment. Projectors and inerative whiteboards have been installed, all rooms have been refitted and carpetted and full ICT facilities made available in classrooms. A new inside access has also been made to E02, finally saving students from having to go outside in all weathers to reach the room.
The Main Hall floor has been replaced and many areas of the main school painted. Extensive computer networking has ben installed to prepare the ground for the introduction od electronic registration and attendance monitioring later this term.
Grove House has also undergone a transformation. The entrance lobby and stairs have been carpetted and painted and the study areas upstairs have been upgraded with the creation of a seminar room and extension of ICT facilities.
Students
Finally, we are delighted to welcome all the new students to Grove School and College. With a slightly smaller Year 7 than last year we have been able to create teaching groups that average only 23 and this year we have introduced setting for English, Maths and German in Year 7 to help all students progress at their own rate.
Grove College has seen a big increase in numbers: we have courses in 24 A level subjects running as well as OCR and GCSE options.
Last and not least, a special welcome to the students who have joined us following the change of regiment at Tern Hill. We hope you are all settling well.
