Taiko Drumming Lessons

 

Music lessons for Year 7 and 8 students on Thursday 7th February had a very different and exciting flavour. Visiting teacher James Barrow from Church Stretton treated students to an exhilarating hour of Japanes Taiko drumming.

 

 

 

 

The students were first shown the basics of drumming, and just as importantly, the posture and movement of the art form.   After developing their skills on the drums, they concluded the session by learning and playing a piece - "Gathering Together" - written especially for Taiko drums.

 

 

 

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience, putting real energy into the final performance!
