Year 8 Challenge

In the recent OFSTED inspection, Grove was congratulated on its "outstanding " curriculum, the key features of which are exceptional choice and opportunity for students in Years 10 and 11 and an approach to learning in Key stage 3 that is based on the RSA Opening Minds project.

During Years 7, 8 and 9 students follow the usual National Curriculum subjects but teaching also focuses on the development of competences, or personal skills for life and learning.

The key areas of competence are:

Working in a team - co-operation with others
Dealing with a moral dilemma - managing situations
Managing information
Thinking systematically - managing their learning
Managing time

Year 8 students all recently took part in a Challenge Day, working in teams to solve problems.  The winning team received copies of Ellen McArthur's book "Race Against Time"

Congratulations to the winners who were:

Aiden Blase    Sam Moysey    Adam Williams    Elizabeth Foxley    Amber Smitham
