Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Grove has an active and successful Duke of Edinburgh Award Group.

DofE programmes are for anyone who is aged between 14 and 24 who realises there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass them by. It is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. Grove students can do programmes at three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold, which lead to a Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The Award is achieved by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you're going for Gold). Students need to help people or the community, get themselves fitter,develop skills, go on an expedition and take part in a residential activity (Gold only).

There is a wide variety of possible activities and students choose a programme that can be full of activities and projects that interest them. And along the way they pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

Grove has a strong tradition of Duke of Edinburgh achievement, with many students in the past having reached Bronze, Silver and even the ultimate Gold standard.  At present we offer the opportunity just to Grove College students.  If you are interested, please speak to Mrs Hackney, Grove College administrator.
