Behaviour Code
The aim of the Behaviour Code in the school is to help
students develop into young adults with a real sense
of responsibility and concern for others. Self-discipline
is our ideal. However, students need to mature within
a secure framework and there are certain rules and conventions
that have to be observed if high standards of integrity
and behaviour are to be maintained. Our Code of Conduct
is displayed in all teaching rooms and in the front of
every student’s record book.
The one rule for all of us in school is:
Everyone will act with courtesy and consideration
to others at all times. |
It will sometimes be necessary to correct poor attitudes
or behaviour. This will range from words of advice from
tutors, break or lunchtime detentions, daily lesson report
cards, removal from lessons and in really serious but
rare instances, exclusion from school. A school detention
takes place every Thursday after school from 3.00 p.m to 4.00 p.m. and departments will hold break, lunchtime and after-school detentions when necessary. When serious problems occur we aim to work with
students, parents and support agencies to put in place
a Behaviour Management Plan, with clearly defined targets.
We look to parents for support in these matters. We
believe that the education of our students is a partnership
between home and school and we will invite parents to
meet a member of staff if there are problems. Equally,
parents should contact the Tutor or Head of House if
they are concerned about their child’s behaviour.
It is always pleasing to see our pupils behave with
a sense of commitment and responsibility and we make
every effort to encourage such positive attitudes. The
Behaviour Code has been established to encourage a sense
of achievement amongst pupils and to help the school
respond consistently when pupils do not reach the high
standard we expect of them.
