The English Department

The English Department is one of the largest in the school with eight teachers. All students study English for 4 lessons a week throughout Years 7 to 11 and many continue with English Language or Literature at Advanced level in Grove College.

Most students will take GCSE in both English and English Literature. Results at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level are consistently good and amongst the best for any subject in the school. Grove School currently uses the AQA GCSE examination syllabuses.

The members of the English teaching staff are:

Mrs P Blessington (Subject Leader), Mrs R Lucas,Mrs R Thomas, Miss S Jones, Mrs K Jones, Mrs C Bridges, Ms L Taylor, Miss K Saunders and Mrs E Baker, and Mrs J Harrison and Mrs A Maher who are full-time teachers who work both in English and in Learning Support.
