The Information and
Communication Technology Department
Information
and Communication Technology is widely used across almost
all subjects in the school as an aid to teaching and learning,
but there is also a very strong ICT department teaching
the subject discretely. The ICT Coordinator is
Gary Foster, who has oversight of all ICT use and development
in school and is also Head of the ICT (teaching) department. Also
teaching ICT are Mr T Kinnersley, who also teaches Business Studies, Mrs J Jones and Mr R Bowker.
In Key stage 3 all students study ICT for an hour each
week as well as having curriculum time for other subjects
in one of our five main computer suites. Our aim
is for all students to complete a Key Skill qualification
in ICT by the end of Year 9 so that they are prepared to
make good use of ICT skills throughout their Key Stage
4 courses.
In Years 10 and 11 there are two optional ICT courses
that students can choose: a full Intermediate GNVQ course
worth 4 GCSE passes at Grade C and the Certificate in Digital
Applications double award
ICT is also a popular and successful subject in Grove
College at Advanced level.
