The Science Department
The
Science Department is the largest in the school with 10
teachers. All students study Science for 3 hours
a week throughout Years 7 to 9 and then in Years 10 and
11, except for students on specialised vocational programmes
who continue with three hours, for four hours a week
organised in separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics
lessons.. Advanced level Biology, Chemistry, Physics
and Environmental Science are all available at Grove
College. Most students will aim to achieve 2 GCSE grades for science.
The members of the Science teaching staff are:
Full-time: Mr P Whittaker (Subject Leader), Mr J A Hartley
(Head of Biology), Mrs A Probert (Head of Chemistry),
Mr D Marsh (Head of Physics), Mr A Richards, Mrs L Green, Dr S Gould and Ms H Rawlinson. Mr G Buckley also works part-time in the Science department.
Recently a huge investment in science teaching facilities
has seen most laboratories completely refurbished with
state-of-the-art equipment and teaching aids. Nearly
all labs have interactive whiteboards and access to networked
computers.
