April 2009

We are delighted to announce that the refurbishment of Science Lab C02 is now complete, bringing it up to the high standard of other science facilities

The Science Department

Grove School - Science Department The Science Department is the largest in the school with 9 teachers. All students study Science for 4 lessons a week throughout Years 7 to 9 and then in Years 10 and 11 for five lessons a week organised in separate Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.  In Year 11 students can opt to extend their core studies to gain a second GCSE grade or to take Applied Science, also leading to a GCSE qualification. Advanced level Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Environmental Studies are all available at Grove College. Most students will aim to achieve 2 GCSE grades for science.

Grove School - Science Department The members of the Science teaching staff are:

Full-time: Mr P Whittaker (Subject Leader), Mr J A Hartley (Head of Biology), Mr D Marsh (Head of Physics), Mr A Richards, Mrs L Green, Mr G Smith, Miss K Carter and Dr S Gould (Head of Chemistry).   Mr G Buckley also works part-time in the Science department.

Recently a huge investment in science teaching facilities has seen most laboratories completely refurbished with state-of-the-art equipment and teaching aids. Nearly all labs have interactive whiteboards and access to networked computers.

Grove Biology Department has its own website. To see more, please follow the link: www.grovebiol.co.uk, www.grove-enviro.blogspot.com and www.grovephysics.co.uk
