Grove students pull off incredible win at County wide Young Enterprise awards.
High flying Grove students were delighted to be awarded a raft of awards at the recent Shropshire Young Enterprise competition. Young Enterprise is offered as an enrichment course at the school under the direction of business studies teacher Tom Kinnersley. Previous Grove students have always been successful in completing the project which challenges students to create and run an innovative and financially viable business.
USB drives. Both teams sold products at various Young Enterprise trade fairs across the county with both teams performing extremely well.
The 21 teams from across Shropshire who completed the year in business were invited to the Young Enterprise awaTwo groups of students from Grove College have been running two highly successful businesses for the past year. Our all girl team ‘Novelty’ built and hand painted bird boxes which were made from reclaimed timber. Our all boy team ‘’Insert’ successfully imported and sold novelty rds ceremony where awards were announced.
The night belonged to the Grove, with the girls’ team picking up awards for: Best Presentation, Best Trade Fair and the award for Social Enterprise. The boys were declared winners of the Best Company Report. Not contentwith already scooping 4 of the available 10 awards, the girls were awarded overall competition winners, the boys coming in second place.
The trophy cabinets are overflowing with the awards which we are incredibly proud to display. They are a testament to the enrichment courses offered at Grove, to the support and mentoring they have received by our fantastic staff, but most of all to the students themselves who have excelled themselves in the difficult and often turbulent world of running a business. Excitement is still rife around the campus as the girls team look forward to the regional round of the competition, we are with them all the way!
